Gastronomic Festival of the Eel - Santo André Lagoon

The eel is a delicacy of its own, caught in the Santo André Lagoon which is a nature reserve. Every year there is a greater demand, both from people in the municipality, and from outside and some very distant places. It is a festival of reference at national level. The fact that it went from 10 to 17 days, after the request of the participating restaurants, says it all. Book your seat in one of the participating restaurants (ask the reception):

FITA - Alentejo International Theatre Festival 10 minutes by car

FITA is a theatre festival with an Ibero-American character that takes place every year during the month of March throughout the Alentejo. Based in the city of Beja, it is from the capital of Baixo-Alentejo that the programme spreads throughout the region, reaching on average ten other municipalities per edition.

Spring Fair - Sines 25 minutes by car

Spring gives colour to the historic centre of Sines, with traditional market and entertainment programme, in early May. This fair has a traditional market in the historic centre, with typical products from the region, handicraft, hand-made products and arts and crafts displays, with the participation of 80 exhibitors.

There is street entertainment in the historic centre, including Tomás Ribeiro Square, Largo Poeta Bocage and Castelo, "gigantones" and "cabeçudos" parades (giant puppets) and lots of music in the street. In the castle there is usually street food, street theatre and concerts by Portuguese artists.

World Music Festival

The FMM Sines - Festival Músicas do Mundo is a music festival held in the municipality of Sines every July, is a public cultural service festival populated by spectator-discoverers. Adopting "Music with a spirit of adventure" as its signature, it is defined by a diversified program presented in historical and urban settings of great beauty and authenticity, near a coast with protected landscape. Spend a few days tasting food from the world and dancing in the streets.

Feira do Monte - Santiago

The Santiago do Cacém Fair and Exhibition Park hosts the traditional "Feira do Monte" (Mount Fair) with a programme full of proposals to enjoy. Besides the fair there are many musical, modern and traditional shows, show cooking, the Children's Space, Tuk-Tuk rides, "garraiadas" (young bulls are chased), traditional games, workshops, "ruadas" (people singing and dancing in the streets) and dance exhibitions, without forgetting the amusements, crafts, snacks and treats.

Tomato Festival of Alvalade and Mimosa

The tomato has its festival in Santiago do Cacém! It takes place in September in a land that is trying to recover its enormous heritage linked to this hybrid between fruit and vegetable. We talk about the "Festival do Tomato de Alvalade | Mimosa - Gastronomic show in restaurants". There is no lack of starters, main courses and desserts where the tomatoes give the motto and flavour.
